Sweet Sunday Sketch #79

 
Hi friends!  I hope Sunday finds you well and happy.  I am enjoying some fabulous weather and lots of stamping.  I didn't stamp as much as I had hoped today...life and housework seems to interrupt at the most inconvenient times.  Still, I did stamp and I have an interesting card for today's Sweet Sunday Sketch.

I combined Karen's sketch with Betty's DTGD challenge.  I decided it was time to break open a pad of Core'dinations designer cardstock that I just had to have over a month ago!  This pack was created to complement Jenni Bowlen's designs, and I just love the rich colours and patterns in it.  This damask paper had me from hello!

 
I started by sanding the damask image down to reveal the kraft core.  Don't you just love it?  I paired it with kraft and black paper and pulled out "Flourishes" a favorite fall to set by Inkadinado.  I stamped the flourish on kraft with Versafine Onyx Black and added a sentiment from an SU set called Teeny Tiny wishes.  The sentiment is framed with an almost forgotten oval bookplate in Aged Copper from SU and I added a couple more brads on either sides then some metal studs (Hero Arts) in the upper corners.  I think this will work well as a masculine card.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #78

Welcome back!  I'm glad you could drop by to check out this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch!  I sure wish I could tell you that I whipped this beauty up in about an hour, but it was not so.  I had first picked out a puppy stamp which I had such a hard time colouring "brindle" like our puppy that I traded it in for a blowfish.  It was easy to colour, but I coudn't get it to work for me either.  So the moral of this story is that when you're in a slump that is not the time to step out of your comfort zone.  So I pulled out a favorite floral set "For all you do" (SU!) and I finally got this to a place I liked.

 
Karen's sketch called for a square image on a rectangle card.  I thought it was kind of fun, and I really like how it turned out.  Basic Grey's Green at Heart paper was my starting point.  It goes so well with Rich Razzleberry! I stamped the solid flower image in Rich Razzleberry on white and cut the image to 2" x 2" and layered it on Regal Rose.  The sentiment was cut out with the curly label punch and Rich Razzleberry polka dot ribbon was threaded through the square to give it a little more visibility.  I used an EK border punch on the vertical border for interest and added rhinestones to the border and flower centres.  Despite how much of a struggle this took, I am pleased with the results.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #77

I love Sundays.  I love my Sunday Sketches too.  I find them inspiring and freeing.  I am free to use whatever I want and I am always so inspired by the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers.  I have been in a bit of a stamping slump of late.  I struggle to come up with something I like, and more recently, I can't seem to find the desire to even head down to my studio and stamp anything.  It's kind of scary, because for me, it has always been easy, and now I struggle.  So, to conquer that, I did what every self respecting stamper would do.  I bought more stamps!  This time, I had to pick up some new Verve.  After all, Verve is where it all started for me, so when the package arrived in the mail this week, I knew they would get inked up for my Sweet Sunday Sketch!   And surprisingly, I felt my MOJO stirring!

I picked up Blue Skies from Verve's newest release...I really love the sentiments and this butterfly is to die for!  Karen's sketch was fun...I love the variety of card sizes she uses and the long and tall ones are favorites of mine!  I fell back on my love of bright colours and pink and orange always seem so beautiful together, so that's where I started.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black and then stamped the leaf image over it in Old Olive.  The butterfly was stamped and coloured with Copic Markers, and I added a rhinestone cluster that I picked up at Michaels a while back.  I am loving my Martha Stewart punches...and I couldn't resist using it to border the card as well!  These punches take less than a millimeter off your card, so they make for perfect borders without changing the size of your card.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #75 X2!

 
 It's Sunday, and the weekend is coming to a close.  It really has been a beautiful weekend here and I think I can feel my Mojo returning.  In fact I made 2 cards for today's sketch and they're very different from each other, but I'm happy with both!

Karen had us working with a centre circle image and that always works for me.  I seem to work well with balanced sketches, although I love the ones that are asymmetrical , perhaps because they are more of a challenge.  I also find new stuff inspiring, so that's where I started.   You can see a slightly larger version of each image when you click on them.

 

I just picked up some of Kaiser's new designer paper called "Hey Birdie" and it is just adorable!  I love all the pink and green...certainly inspirational for me!  I decided to keep the focus on the sentiment working with Flourishes "Life Lines".  I inked the Maya Road chipboard tree trunk with Chocolate Chip ink, and covered the tree top with flock!  It's so cute and fuzzy!  I added some pink pearls before the flock (nothing sticks to flock), and finished with a row of Prima Flowers.

 
I was on a roll, so I figured I should keep going!  I pulled out Hero Art's "High Heels" set that I hadn't inked up before and coloured the shoe pink and filled in the polka dots with a black glaze pen.  It's layered on a black scalloped circle.  The small background is stamped with Hero Art's Polka Dot cling background and the row of ribbon flowers are a clearance item I picked up at Walmart ages ago.  I really wanted to work the polka dot theme, so I layered a polka dot transparency from SU over the Pixie Pink card to bring it all together.  Fun card for the right person!

Sweet Sunday Sketch #74 See Beyond

Hello my sweet friends!  It's time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch and I have some sparkling goodness for you today!  I really had fun with this sketch, which if I recall correctly, was drawn up by Sweet Stamper Vicki!  I pulled out a stamp set that I had purchased some time ago and showed it some lovin' and glittered it all up.  I hope you like it! 

The stamp set is Discover Your Wings from Taylored Expressions.  I stamped the large garden image in my Tsukineko Ultimate Glue pad, and added Grasshopper, Glitter Ritz glitter.  I love this glitter.  It's the least messy, least static-y glitter I've ever worked with.  So easy to clean up and it doesn't flake off!  The cardstock colours are Old Olive and Baja Breeze and the designer paper is old SU...I can't remember what it's called.  I added the sentiment with the SU Word Window punch accenting it with a rhinestone.  I tied a length of ribbon around the lower panel and added some detail with some corner piercing.  Oh, this baby glitters in real life!

Sweet Sunday Sketch #73 Hugs

 It seems as though I'm in a high speed time warp these days and time is flying by at an alarming rate.  I honestly can't believe it's Sunday.  But I do have the sweetest card to share with you.  I just love this little Penny Black set called "Hugs".  I had to pick it up after I received a card from Denise (Peanutbee) a long time back, and I really haven't used it as much as I like it.  So I figured it was about time it saw some ink and a little love.

This week's sketch was another winner.  I love that it has a few layers, but was quick to piece together and I think that circles are my favorite way to showcase an image.  I pulled out my Kioshi paper by Basic Grey, and added some simple details with a Martha Stewart border punch, some taffeta ribbon and a few pearls.  This is how it turned out.

I used Copic markers to colour and popped up the flower to really make it seem like the little mice are shaded under it!  I can't think of who wouldn't smile when they saw these adorable little mice!

Sweet Sunday Sketch #71

Happy Sunday my Sweet Stampers!  Here we are with another Sweet Sunday Sketch and my card this week is so sweet!  I finally caved in and picked up one of the Sarah Kay images from Stampavie, and I just love her!  Those who know me, realize what a big step this is, because I generally don't care for "people" images, but these adorable stamps arrived at the store I work at (Scrapbooker's Paradise) and they are just so sweet, I could no longer resist!

 Karen's sketch this week was just perfect for a large focal image so I decided to colour Bernadette up.  I chose another of Kaiser's new papers from their Tea at Elsie's line, together with my trusty Copic Markers and went to town!  Here's where I ended up!

I think this card may end up in a Copic Class, so I tried to keep it reasonably simple...for me anyway!  The image is cropped to an oval and layered on Spellbinders Labels 10 nestability with a few Kaiser pearls added to the top and bottom.  The belly band is cropped with Martha Stewart's double loop edger and I finished with a Prima flower! I didn't add a sentiment and this image is so sweet it would work for many occasions.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #70

Happy Sweet Sunday to you!  It's the long weekend here, so hopefully you are reading this and I am camping...in the rain.  Perhaps it's cleared up, but it's raining as I type this up on Friday.  It's sketch #70...can you believe that?  I think it was a fun and easy one to work with, which was a blessing since it seems like I'm always in a rush these days!

Paper:  Classic White (Flourishes),Basic Black (SU)

Ink: Versamark, Versafine Onyx Black Accessories:  C7 & 100 Copic Markers, silver EP (Stampedous), square & oval punches (SU), rhinestone flourish (Prima), pop dots

I had this idea ever since I got this set, Beauty Within by Flourishes.  It's stained glass design reminded me of puzzles when I was a kid.  You know the kind where you are supposed to colour in all the sections with a dot, and miraculously an image would appear.   I mean I think we could always see the image without colouring it in, but it was fun anyway.  I really thought this set would look fun in black and white.  Only, I am not really fond of black flowers, but I decided to try it anyway.  I used silver embossing powder on the image, and coloured the roses with C7 & 100 Copic markers.  Karen's sketch called for a flourish of some sorts, so I pulled out a Prima flourish that I had been hoarding, and thought it worked in quite well.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #69

Oh my.  What a time I had with this card!  Let me just say, that when you roll over your main focal image with your desk chair...you just have to buck up and start again LOL!

Karen had circles and strips in store for us with this weeks sketch.  I quite like the sketch although my card is not near what I had pictured when I started this journey.

I picked up a couple of sheets of Bo Bunny's "Jazmyne" designer paper, and although I'm not much for purple, I really like the sparkly flowers and fun designs.  So that was my starting point.  I picked Barely Banana and Rich Razzleberry card stock to work with the DP, and I chose a Heidi Swapp stamp for my focal image.  I had assembled the card and went attach the piece I had stamped, glittered and cut out, and it was no where to be found.  I rolled my chair back to check under the desk and credenza, no such luck.  I even started putting things away in an attempt to clear my desk.  Still couldn't find it.  I was going crazy.  I mean I had just sat it down after cutting it out.  I walk away from table to take a little break and I see it.  Stuck to the roller on my chair; now quite dented with a good portion of the glitter gone.    So here I go again.

This time I pulled out Celebrate Life by Taylored Expressions.  I stamped the spray flower in Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive, adding the little leafy bud stamp in Old Olive.  I loved the look but it didn't pop against the busy patterns of the paper.  I had cut a flower out of the DP earlier, and I didn't care for it, because it was "distress-y", but when I put it over the spray flower it seemed to work.  I adhered some buttons; adding gems to their centres and stamped "Happy Birthday" by Technique Tuesday because it was still laying on my desk.  This is so busy now, I don't know what to think.  Must be the purple LOL!

Sweet Sunday Sketch #67

How fast the weeks go by!  Here it is again, Sunday, and another fabulous sketch by Karen.  Now I have to say, that I'm happy with the final result, but honestly, I struggled big time with this one.  I'm sure it's because I chose to work with a "non-floral" image, and it really made me think.  I think it turned out OK...a little brighter than I had envisioned it but I loved this image and I'm happy I could make it work.

The image is by Stampendous and it's called Villa Scene.  I watercoloured it...something I haven't done in a while.  The designer papers are all just scraps from various companies.  I used SU's little leaf die cut, the largest button I could find and the sentiment is framed in Hodge Podge Hardware.  I added a gem in the sun, and felt the corner needed a little something, so I finished with a Cuttlebug corner die.  Something different for me anyway!
