Mother's Day Cards and RAK's

I wanted to share the gifts or card gifts that my daughters gave me for Mother's Day.  It is truly the best part about being a Mom, sharing in the joy of them presenting these marvelous hand and heart-made gifts.

This is Amy's Card.  This girl is after my heart!  Everything is popped up on "dimensionals"!  Well, in this case it's small pieces of corrugated cardboard, but the idea is there!  This is so special since she also included a cup of my favorite java...Tim Horton's coffee!  Don't you just love the steam coming from the mug? This is just so precious, the hearts all crimped, and it's layered several times on coordinating card stock!  I'll be recruiting this girl one day soon!

Carly's gift is just adorable!  A paper pieced teddy bear!!  Actually it's sort of a foamy kind of fabric, but so sweet.  It just makes me smile typing this.  There's a lot of cutting here for a 7 year old.  I love the eyes too, and isn't he just the cutest holding the heart?  Oh my...melt my heart!

Carly also made a card on the computer.  Honestly, both girls know Power Point as well as I do...they learn it in school, and do reports and presentations on it.  I don't know if this card was made in Power Point, but it still shocks me that computers are so much a part of their curriculum.

Here is her card.  She has coloured it so beautifully, and selected a crown as her clip art choice.  Now I have to show you the back, because all artists sign their work.

Isn't that adorable????  See the I {Heart} U?  From my little angel.  What can I say...this is really what motherhood is all about!

Well, I also wanted to share some of the other wonderful RAKs I have received over the past few weeks.  This first one is from Silke Ledlow {MY LIFE}.  She sent me the card she made when I was Featured Stamper.  Little does she know that this arrives just shy of my birthday too!  I just love her colour scheme and all the bling!  This one shines so much it lights up the room!  Thank you Silke, it really is a pleasure to have one of your amazing creations!

Jessie {Can You Say Addicted to Stamps???} strikes again!   A card was all she needed to say congrats on being selected for the Dirty Dozen, but no, she sends all this cool stuff.  These little button brads are just the cutest, plus ribbon and stickles.  She spoils me I tell ya!!  Thanks a million Jessie!  You are rockin' girl!

Julee Tilman {Poetic Artistry} owner of Verve Visual sent me this gorgeous card!  I just love the colours and the way she used these stamps!  Julee, you made ME smile with this!  Thanks so much!

And finally, Denise, {The Paper Landscaper} sent me this adorable card.  Her colouring is so fabulous, it's really a shame I couldn't capture it in the photo.  There is sparkle around the flower centre and it just shines!  My girls just thought it was the cutest thing!  And it is!  Thank you Denise...I love it!

More Happy Mail

I'm back.  I did get some stamping done at my Mom's, but I wanted to share some of the awesome happy mail that has arrived in my mailbox!  I am so inspired by people who actually mail their cards...I just think I will, and then forget later.  Guess I better get on that!

This first card is from Dawn (Stampinscotsgirl on SCS).  Dawn heard me whining about actually using 1 of the 12 Cuttlebug sheets she sent me when she was my elf, and decided she better replenish my stock!!  She sent me about 20 sheets all with the new cool folders.   And this card.  I just love this.  The letters are really sparkly in real life...it is just so crisp and beautiful.  Thanks Dawn...you are so sweet!

Now I have no idea what I did to get this fabulous stash of goodies from Jessie, but I was feeling awfully special when this package arrived in the mail.  Jessie sent me the card she made casing me when I was Featured Stamper with her congratulations!  It's so gorgeous, I love her version better than mine.  If you want some eye candy, you better check out her blog, she's recently been snatched up by the Paper Pretties gang to design for them, and recently won the guest designer spot for My Favorite things, she is definitely going places!  Thanks Jessie, and the congrats are right back atcha girl!

Carolina sent me this adorable card with congrats too!  This was her featured stamper card too!  Honestly, I love that people do this...it never occured to me...duh!  This card is so sparkly and detailed with gems and pearls and her famous bows.  Thanks Carolina...I am feeling very special!

Now this card arrived today, and it was a complete surprise.  You see, Jessi, Carolina and Dawn all had my address, but Sarah wouldn't have had it!  I was thrilled.  It is so pretty, and it too is the card she made when I was the Featured Stamper.  That stitching is the real thing folks!  I love how she did the sentiment...It's Your Special Day!  It was really special too!  Thank you Sarah, truly a most pleasant surprise.

Now one of the coolest perks of being selected as featured stamper is getting "Mothermark"'s incredibly creative tribute cards she makes for each featured stamper.  I just love it, and pink and orange are one of my favorite combinations.  Thank you Cindy!

   

One thing I will say when I receive these cards, is that they are works of art.  When you hold them you really see the care and craftsmanship put into each one, and can truly appreciate the artists who create them.  I feel so blessed to have received these, and it definitely inspires me to get my cards in the mail.  It is really "Happy" mail in every sense of the word, to open a hand addressed envelope.  Now I think I have a few people on my list I want to make happy, so that's what I'm going to do next!

I have been meaning to post these wonderful items I received from these fabulous stampers, so today, before I post my Technique Tuesday, I want to share with you some of the cool cards and gifts they have bestowed me with. 

First, Debbie, from Dabbles by Deb sent me this gorgeous monogrammed gift set, as her Pay it Forward craft!  The little item on the left is a post it note holder and it closes with magnets!!  So cool, and the list, certainly not destined to be a "to do" list, I promptly wrote down my wish list from the new Occasions Mini!  I received this in January, and I am finally posting it!

Thank you so much Debbie!  The sparkly paper and monogram, on top of your beautiful craftsmanship make this a wonderful gift!

Julie, JustWriteDesigns , posted this card in January, and I loved it!  So much that when she expressed her reservations on it, I said, if you don't like it send it to me, and she did!!  I was really only kidding, but it was such a wonderful surprise to have it show up in my mail box!  There is just so much detail on this card, and my dd's just loved it!

  Both of these beautiful cards came from Helen, the list mom for a stamping group that I have been noticeably absent from (insert shamed face here).  They arrived appropriately on Valentines Day!  Aren't they just gorgeous?

One is a Welcome card, and the other a Valentine!  Helen, thank you so much for thinking of me!  I am feeling so special these days! 

I also have some exciting news to share, and maybe you've already heard it.  If you haven't I will spill it later today.  I really need to get my Technique Tuesday done.  I didn't get it shot yesterday with the kids at home, so we are doing it live today!

Happy Mail

I just love getting mail that either A) comes in a big envelope or B) has a handwritten address.  You just know it's not going to be a bill or a flyer!  So yesterday I opened my mail to find a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) from Julee at www.poeticartistry.blogspot.com !  You recall this post, where I had to share my exciting news about winning on her sketch challenge, well she sent me a little package and a card she made! 

This is such a gorgeous card, and you should see it in real life!  I tried to capture the sparkle as best I could, and you can see it a little better if you click for a larger image.  She even put stickles on the flower...so cool, I will have to try that!  Her colouring skills are far beyond mine...and I just love her colour choices!  She posted this card on her blog here, so you can read all the "deets" as she refers to them.  I'm so happy to receive it! 

Along with the card she sent me some gorgeous 6x6 papers!  I just love them.  You can see little scraps in the picture, well she didn't send me scraps...I just had to cut into them and make a card!  It's always so much fun to have new stuff to play with, and I try to use new stuff as soon as I get it...a new rule I have for myself as I try to get past my "hoarding" issues!

I had several goals as I made this card.  I thought I would make a card for Julee... "J" is for Julee! (and it is also the 3rd letter in the word enjoy..which I don't have a stamp for!) Secondly, I saw that some of the papers were a perfect match to Purely Pomegranate...and I just love that colour!  I also wanted to use some of my retiring stamp sets, you know..just one last fling before they're gone!  I used three retiring sets for this card!  Label Classics, it just fit the vintage kind of feel these papers have, and makes a perfect frame for the monogram; Alphabits, love them for doing some cool formatting, or for those sentiments that aren't quite on a stamp yet; and Headline Alphabet, which I used for the "J".   I also used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch 15 !  I love the way it came together. 

I stamped the letters on Very Vanilla textured cardstock, and the texture gives that sketchy look...(click above to get a larger view) with Purely Pomegranate.  I punched out the letters and popped them up.  For the "J" I stamped it on Very Vanilla textured cardstock in Soft Sky Classic Ink, and rock and rolled it in Purely Pomegranate! I used the Three for You flower punch to punch the flower that adorns the "J", and added a circle in Soft Sky, then a little rhinestone from K & Co.  The velvet ribbon is from Flirty, a ribbon original from Stampin' UP!'s winter mini 2007, and it's a much better match in real life!  I am so pleased with the way it turned out, I almost hate to send it off!
