Copic Texture Techniques Class

 
We just had our class sign up day for our spring Session at Scrapbooker's Paradise, and I wanted to share some of the cards I will teaching.  I was so happy that Flourishes stamps arrived in time for the classes, as they are so familiar to work with, and with Flourishes amazing design team there is no lack of inspiration.

In fact the inspiration for this class came from Designer Extraordianaire, Christine Okken.  She recently did a focus on Copic Extras on Flourishes blog, and I just new the people in Red Deer would love to learn it.  So I got her blessing on transferring her cards to a class and I ran with it.  Here they are:

 
My cards are a little different and with slight variations in technique, and I also included the Copic Water colour technique.  Here they are individually.

The first card uses Flourishes "Chairs to You" set with Cornish Heritage Farm's "Flowers and Lace" backgrounder. You can see how fabulous that texture is on the cover of the chair. Do  you imagine it being crushed velvet?  Here's a close up you can click on.

I loved Christine's purse card using Think Pink, and for mine I did a fabric transfer technique and I love the finished result.  Here's a close up of the purse for you to click on.

 For the Copic Watercolour Technique, I chose to work with Cornish Heritage Farm's  "Nature Silhouettes".  This is such a fun and easy technique and produces such beautiful results.

More Alcohol Ink

I promised I would share a couple more cards from the classes I taught at Scrapbooker's Paradise.  Both of these were done with alcohol ink on acetate...actually, Judikins Shrink plastic to be exact.  It's a nice sturdy medium for this techniqe, especially when using it on a card.

The first is one we actually did in the class.  It's a simple 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" card.  I used my favorite Cuttlebug Butterfly and the EK Postage Stamp border punch.  The sentiment is from a set by Inkadinkadoo called "Greetings".

It's really hard to capture the beauty of the translucent panel, but trust me it's more interesting in real life.  It's popped up with micro pop dots, (most are under the butterfly or the sentiment panel) to really take advantage of that quality.

The second is also done with the Judikins shrink plastic (not shrunk BTW!) This one didn't make the cut, because you can only get so many cards done in a class, but I like how it turned out so I figured I'd share it with you anyway.

The sentiment is from an fabulous inspirational set by Cloud Nine Design called Happy Birthday, and the flower type image is from Hero Art's set "Scattered Leaves".  I added yellow gems to the buds and again the clear panel is popped up on micro pop dots. 

These are both really simple designs...perfect for replication in a class.  I mean really the fun part is playing with the alcohol inks, not building the cards!
