I've heard it said a card is a hug with a fold in it! So this month Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful challenge was to incorporate a unique hug in our card...or was it a unique fold?

With so many different folds out there the challenge is to use something other than an original card fold. You will find some fabulous examples and tutorials online at the Splitcoast Resource Library.
I used the fabulous swing fold!

My co worker, Kim Fletcher demo-ed this fold at a recent make and take at the store I work at, and it was so perfect for this challenge, I had to try it myself. You can see Kim's make and take project here.
To make the card, you start with a standard 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" card, and score at 2 1/8" & 4 1/4". To cut your swing using a Cuttlebug, you create a sandwich: A plate, B plate, card with edge side of the scored section going into the Cuttlebug. Then you place your die, positioning it so that it is centred over the score line. Push the C plate halfway through the Cuttlebug, and pull/adjust it forward so that it is over half the die, and aligned with the score line, and roll it through. It's a little tricky, but it works fabulously when you only want to cut part of the shape! This is also a perfect card to use double sided paper!

Once you have your card cut...then it's all about the finishing touches. I worked with Flourishes Thank You set, and The Colour Throwdown's colours- Old Olive, Baja Breeze and Kraft. I stamped the background stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black on kraft cardstock and then stamped the flower over it. I cut the image out in Labels 8 and adhered it to the swing panel. The flower was also stamped on Flourishes Classic Ivory and coloured with Copic Evergreen and Blue Jeans collections. Then I cut out the flower and popped it up over the image on kraft. A larger Labels 8 piece frames the swing on the "inside" of the card. I finished with a few rhinestone flourishes accented by blue rhinestones. A fun and wow card!
