It's a new month so time for a new feature item at Scrapbooker's Paradise! From the 1st-15th November 2011 Ranger Alcohol Inks are on special for $10.25 (regular $12.99) just quote FIAI in the comment section of your online order.
I hadn't planned to work with poppies, but when my flowers emerged from my alcohol ink play...there was no doubt about it, they were poppies! So I thought it was perfectly timed as we head into Rememberance Day.
Products used:
Blue, Black & red cardstock (Prism)
Alcohol Ink applicator (Ranger)
Alcohol Ink felts (Ranger)
Glossy paper (Ranger)
Dockside Picnic Alcohol Ink kit (Ranger)
Sunshine Yellow alcohol ink (Ranger)
Black Lace Trim (Kaiser)
Rub on Sentiment (Pebbles)
Black Glaze Pen (Sakura)
This technique is right off Ranger's web site! I loved it and it worked really slick when I tried it! I created a blue background wash first with Sailboat blue and Blending Solution. Then, you place a felt on your ink applicator tool, and add the alcohol inks like you would make a flower! Yellow in the centre, and Watermelon on the outside. I didn't pounce randomly, but instead placed the ink on the glossy with a straight up and down motion to create the flowers.
I finished the flower with a black Glaze pen for the dots, and a Copic Multiliner to outline the flowers...it just gives them a little more "pop"! The sentiment is a rub on, and I added some lace and a Prima pebble to finish.
Hannah had two fabulous Alcohol ink projects on her blog...so pop over and have a peek. Then you can head over to Scrapbooker's Paradise's blog for your chance to win an Alcohol Ink set of your own!
Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful day!
