29 Again?

 
I taught a class this week at Scrapbooker's Paradise working with 7-Gypsies Ephemera.  I have come to love "ephemera", which is defined as "things lasting for a short time, leaving no permanent trace; something of no lasting significance".  I guess most memorabilia would fall into that category, but however you define it, it's a little bit retro, a little bit edgy and lot's of fun!  So I thought I would share my favorite card from that class with you today!

I think this card is so fun, and the ephemera elements are such a fun twist on the "29 again" sentiment.  Or...at least it makes me giggle! 

Summer Smiles!

 

So are you having a great summer so far?  What a fabulous day we had here...sun, sun and more sun!  I am always in a better mood when the sun is out. 

 
It's Showcase Monday at Scrapbooker's Paradise and our theme this month is Summer Fun!  How appropriate since I was in the mood to make some fun summer cards!  I have been really enjoying working with one line of product.  It really makes it so easy, since everything coordinates and I find my projects come together so quick.  So quick that before I knew it, I had three cards ready to go...and they all feature the same Jillibean products!

 and another close up! I just love Jillibean's Journalling Sprouts!  There are twenty four of these little designer circles in a package and I just love circles as design elements.  They match the colours and patterns of the Jillibean paper lines and it makes it so fun to mix 'n match and layer away!  I am really looking forward to their next release.

Kids at Play always reminds me of summer and vacations!  I see these kids in the silhouette and think they must be celebrating the last day of school...I know mine are!  I stamped the silhouette in Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then I sponged Broken China, Shabby Shutters and Scattered Straw in long swipes across the image.  It turned out much as I envisioned it, but even so it wasn't quite right. I planned for this to be a one layer card, and then after it was all said and done, I just couldn't pull it off.  I ended up trimming 1/4" off the edges and layered it on the blue cardstock.

I know you're probably dreaming of summer and the Bring Back Beautiful design team has more sensational summer designs!  We also have some new faces so be sure to welcome them on board!!

Look Ma...no Stamps!

 
Bo Bunny has brought us so many fabulous lines of late, and their Zoology collection does not disappoint!  I used something from almost every element except, believe it or not, their stamps!  But I'm sure you'll be seeing those very soon!  With all the accent products that Bo Bunny has with this line, you can whip up a card or scrapbook page in no time!

Products used: Bo Bunny Zoology: Strip Paper, Elephant paper, Trinkets, Sticker Combo, Noteworthy, Maya Road:  Chipboard flourish Tattered Angels: Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist American Crafts: Caramel String Ranger: Black Soot Distress Ink Spellbinders:  Labels 8 die

I started but cutting the stripped designer paper with the Label 8 Spellbinder and inked the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.  I pulled out a couple of tags and labels from the Noteworthy package...what a collection of gems there!  All the sentiments are from the Combo Sticker sheet and of course everything was edged with Black Soot distress ink.  I sprayed a chipboard flourish with Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist,L and tied some Caramel String around it all.  Lastly, I added a black rhinestone flourish and one of the Zoology trinkets and decided I'd save the rest for another day! Here's a close up of the cluster of elements.

Playing in Paradise Challenge #22

 
I told you I'd be back soon, and this week I'm playing along with the Playing in Paradise Challenge!  We're on challenge #22 and the challenge is to use Stitching on your project...real or faux!

 
Here's my take on it:

Paper:  Prism Simply Smooth white, pink, Out of Print DP (Basic Grey)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Sew Easy handle, Sew Easy Single stitch tool, Sew Easy Green Floss, Blush Lace & Sheer Organdy ribbon (American Crafts), Cool Highlights glitter (Glitter Ritz), Copic Markers R81, R85, R89, Y15, YR14, Clear button (Hero Arts)

I am not a big "stitcher", so I really had to think about what I would stitch.  Luckily I had the new Sew Easy stitching tool, and I bought a couple of stitch cartridges to go with it.  Many of them look fabulous even without actually stitching....the impression left by the tool is cool on it's own.  I used the plain stitch cartridge and I just wheeled it free hand down the designer paper to create a "stem" and stitched it with green floss.  It's so cool.  I also did some faux stitching along the edges of the paper strip border.  I am in love with Basic Grey's new line "Out of Print".  I mean I love it...every piece of the collection is just gorgeous and I had to use it right away! 

The flower is stamped, coloured with Copic markers and cut out.  I added some glitter to add a bit of shine and the button is actually "stitched" on!   I tied a knot in a short length of sheer green ribbon for "leaves" and added the sentiment in a strip along the bottom.  Pretty straight forward really!
