You know, since I started working with my Copic Markers, I have not watercoloured. So, when I decided to work with this cool layout from the Clean and Simple blog, #54, for Flourishes "Floral Finesse" pre-release challenge, I knew I wanted a one layer card. I find that tough to do with Copics, since they bleed through to the other side. At least it does with my heavy hand. So I pulled out my Twinkling H20's and watercoloured, but it was hard. It didn't come easy at all. I guess I had better start balancing it out before I forget all together.
Flourishes pre-release challenge is to be inspired by the colour in my favorite flowers. Well since my I just got the Pink Poinsettia that I ordered from a school fundraiser, I let it be my inspiration! I love "Poinsettia and Boxwood", one of the Christmas sets Flourishes released last year. I haven't pulled it out yet this year, and I still need a few more Christmas cards, so this was perfect!
I stamped the image in Versamark and embossed it in detail gold on Flourishes European Watercolour paper. I watercoloured it using an aqua painter and Twinkling H20's. The gold frame was created with the Gold Border strips (if you aren't throwing a couple packages of these babies in your cart with every order, you are missing out!). Now it started as a one layer card, but I stamped the sentiment crooked. At least it was only in Versamark, so I chose to stamp it again and cut it out with the Double Ended Tag trio by Spellbinders. I added two pink pearls to each end of the tag and sponged some Pixie Pink ink around the outer edge of the card to finish. I just love the way it turned out.
