Happy Sweet Sunday! I had a little fun creating my card for this week's sketch. First it was an awesome sketch. I am so drawn to circles...they're the perfect shape. Plus I had encountered a happy surprise playing with my alcohol inks a while back and I couldn't wait to put the concept into a card, and this sketch worked so well.
A little history for the alcohol ink story. The staff had to make up "story boards" at the LSS I work at, and one of the things we had to use was a Bazzill transparency. It's really heavy weight clear cardstock. So I did mine with alcohol ink, and I thought the fancy swirl lace die cut paper by Creative Imaginations would show it off beautifully. I had cut a square of the die cut paper and placed it over the inked transparency, and when I turned it over to apply adhesive, I was amazed at how cool it looked with the die cut paper behind it instead of in front. So I switched it to the back and did the same thing here. So that's how the inner part of the card came to be.
I used Verve's "Beautiful Kindness" set, stamping the butterflies in Versafine Onyx Black and cutting them out so their wings were free to fly. I added pearls to the butterflies and at the other side of the circle. The flourish is a die cut from a SU scrapping kit, that I promised I would use, so I didn't have to throw it out. (I've made the same promise with the other million things I have down here in my studio LOL!). I added some Crystal Stickles to add a little more prominence, and in real life it's a much richer colour...the lighting washes out the colour and sparkle.
This was a totally fun sketch to work with, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers have done with it!
Have a wonderful day and thanks so much for popping by! It's always a pleasure when you do!
