Oh Sweet Sunday! I love Sundays. Since the LSS I work at isn't open Sundays I know I never have to work plus just the name says it's a day to relax. I'll be relaxing by cleaning and reorganizing my studio, but to me that's a great way to relax. I have two cards to share with you today using two sketches, but they're not a set. In fact one's a Christmas card and the other is Halloween!
First up is Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch, and this week's sketch was awesome to work with. I am addicted to the Maya Mist Taylored Expressions carries, and I had an idea I wanted to try out. I wanted to see if you could stamp on paper that had been previously sprayed with Maya Mist, and the verdict is-YES you can!!
I spayed Copper Maya Mist on Choice Buttercream cardstock and let it dry maybe 5 mins. It drys to the touch in about 1 minute, but I gave it a little longer before stamping on it. Then I inked up Christmas Blessings in Memento Rich Cocoa and stamped it once perfectly! Even as bold an image as this one came out perfectly! The sentiment is also crisp and clear and the shimmer shines right through the inked portions. Oh I have to say this is really beautiful in real life...even my dd's both commented on the shimmer. I also used the Arabesque template on the Chocolate Chip card stock with the Copper Maya Mist. It shows a little more gold like on the Chocolate Chip, so I'll keep that in mind for future use!
I finished the card according to the sketch using punches and Nestabilities for the sentiment; tying it off with some copper coloured ribbon. Two copper brads in the upper left and a star shaped rhinestone was added to the Star of Bethlehem before I called it done.
The Sweet Sunday Stampers are sharing their versions today, so have a quick hop around to get inspired before you give it a try! Don't forget to link your creation to Karen's post so we can all see it!
Ok, now for something entirely different, here's my take on Taylored Expression's Sketch Challenge #88. I had this card made yesterday, but never found the time to post it. So now you get a double feature!
OK, I'll start by telling you that whenever I preview an image in my email, it squishes it into a square! So when I previewed this, it looked like a vertically oriented card with an oval. Something like this:
So when you see my take on it, you will understand why it is so "off" the sketch LOL!
Anyway, as soon as I saw the "oval" I reached for Punchy Potions. It was so perfect with the oval images and the four smaller circle images. I stamped them all in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured them with Copic markers. I used Nestabilities to cut the oval, and punches for the small circles and added a Taylor's Tiny Twinkle to each of the images. The designer paper is Basic Grey's "Eerie", from the Halloween Key Ingredients kit, which is on sale right now!
In fact Taylored Expressions is having aFright Night Sale, but only until Midnight tonight! (Sunday, Oct 25)
Taylor is also introducing the

Wish me luck in my reorganizing. I actually enjoy doing it when there aren't a million other things that are screaming for my attention. Today I've decided to wear earplugs and focus on my studio. I hope your Sunday is relaxing your way. Make it fabulous!
