Do you ever have those days when you're just never satisfied? Mine kind of went that way yesterday. I started a card, and it was slow going all the way, and even when it was done, I wasn't satisfied. So I tried again, and then after another slow process, I ended up with a perfectly good piece of designer paper glued to a card, so I figured it would be an easy card. It was, and here they all are!
This was my first attempt. I stamped the three tier platter from Taylored Expression's "For the Love of Cupcakes" in Versafine Onyx Black and coloured it in with SU markers. I went over the "frame" with a Sakura black glaze pen and that's what made me not sure. I was going for a wrought iron look, but it was so dark and my line wasn't near as nice as the original stamp. Regardless, I put it all together using SU!'s Tea Party designer papers and some Swiss Dot ribbon from Taylored Expressions, and decided to try again, using a sketch next time.

I was looking at all the fabulous samples for the Mojo Monday contest this week, and thought I would use Julee's sketch for my next attempt. I really struggled with this card. The image from For the Love of Cupcakes was stamped and coloured and cut out with rectangle nestabilites. I pieced together the sketch, but I just couldn't find the right background. That could have been a clue that maybe the foreground required some change, but I didn't go there. I finally ended up pulling an old Certainly Celery prints dp and decided that it worked well enough to let it be. However, in my attempts to find the perfect background I ended up with a perfectly good card front that begged to be finished off. And this is what happened next.

I had the polka dot dp layered on white then on Pretty in Pink, along with the ribbon and buttons in the corner. I couldn't just waste them, so I decided to give it another shot. I added a circle of Choice Snow White a border punched with a Martha Stewart punch and I paper pieced the cupcakes. The flower was also a throw off from the previous card, but when you put it all together, it looked pretty good.

So there you are! The tale of how one card ended up being three. And honestly, the one I doubted...that started this whole avalanche, well I think I like it best LOL!
I hope you are having a fabulous weekend. Thanks for dropping by to visit...I truly appreciate each and every one of you who does!
