Here we are again, another Flourishes Friday! This week our focus is on Spellbinders, and some creative ways to use them. I am not sure that my card is particularly creative, but I do like how it turned out!
I pulled out Life, Love and Lemons for another go round chosing to work with the topiary this time. I was inspired by my fellow design team mate, Latisha's card here. I really loved the lined paper and her random use of the various elements.
The card design is one that I used for a swap card many years ago, and I'm pretty sure I cased the design (right down to the crimping!) from a stamp magazine. Just between you and me, I love my new version much more!
To create the scalloped circle edge, I cut my card to 4 1/8" x 11". Then I placed the largest of the large scallop circle so that the middle scallops just overhang on the long edges of the card, and on the short edge, the scallop is just slightly inside. I didn't cut much off the card at all. It measures 5 3/8" on the front, vs 5 1/2". When I ran it through the Cuttlebug, I did so very slowly, going only to the halfway point, then wheeling it back. I embossed it the same way...running it halfway and back.
The ledger paper is from the Jenni Bowlen line, and I cut it into a circle with the Nestabilites, then stamped and coloured the topiary on the side. The topiary was also stamped on Flourishes European Watercolour paper and coloured with ink and an aquapainter, then cut out and popped up on the ledger paper. I added the sentiment accented by a Beautiful Brad in copper, and the little lemon blossoms peek in at the top.
The left side features Kiwi Kiss pierced on both sides and wrapped in crocheted ribbon run through a Stunning Slide in copper, and the inside of the card has a scrap of Basic Grey, Urban Prairie designer paper along the edge, so the circle front is more prominent.
The rest of Flourishes Design team has been creating with Spellbinders, so have a peek in a their fabulous creations. I know you'll be delighted! And Latisha is featuring Spellbinders on Flourishes' Blog, so make sure you stop by to see what she's been up to as well!
It's finally Friday, and boy my kids can feel it. They have one week left of school, and with summer in full swing, they are so ready to pack it in. I'm not sure how it will be this summer with me working. Interesting to say the least LOL! Well, at least it's summer and they will likely sleep a good portion of the day before getting up to create their daily disaster.
I hope you are off to a great day! Thanks for popping in for a visit! I appreciate every one of you!
