It's finally Friday. The kids have been home for Spring Break, and I think it should be called "Break Mom". I'll be happy to see them head back on Monday! In the meantime, I did get a card done today. Really, it should have taken an hour, but it was a full day of running errands, since I didn't work, then off to a movie this evening. So it seemed to take all day! The week our Flourishes Focus is on ribbons, and Latisha has created a video on how to tie a bow! I am very "bow" challenged; I tie great knots but tend to shy away from bows, so I'm anxious to see the video myself!
I did tie a bow for my card...or a reasonable facsimile! It's one of those "cheater" bows. To do this type of bow, you create two loops, or rabbit ears, in the middle of your length of ribbon, and tie the bow. You could place the bow any place and leave your tails dangling, but I chose to wrap the tails around and adhere them "behind the scenes". I like this type of bow because it's usually the tails that give me grief anyway!
Latisha "challenged" us to not use any designer papers, and focus on the ribbon. Well it's not as though I can't make a card without designer paper, in fact I made one this week with cardstock only. But, as soon as I can't use it, that's where the trouble begins LOL!
I loved this week's colour challenge, so I figured that was a good place to start: Kiwi Kiss, Pretty in Pink and Baja Breeze. I worked with Mixed Greetings, a fabulous set that is fun to mix and match, and watercoloured it on watercolour paper.
I chose a square card because the ribbon I picked out is a May Arts light pink, gorgeous, shimmery wide organdy, and I wanted enough space to really show it off in a bow. The Cuttlebug and my scallop border punch helped add some interest to the bare cardstock, and some faux dew drops were the perfect finish.
I'm not the only one with ribbons and bows this week. You will enjoy checking out the rest of the design team's creations with the gorgeous ribbons that Flourishes has, after you visit Flourishes blog and watch Latisha's video!
Don't forget to celebrate with us and get yourself entered into our blog candy! Four people are going to win, and all you need to do is case a card of mine or Julie's, or both if you want to have more chances to win our Celebrating 300K blog candy! You have until Monday, March 30 to link it up.
