Taylored Expressions just keeps branching out! Now Taylor is offering a Key Ingredients Kit Subscription and today I have a sample using the first kit being offered. To find out how you can subscribe and get this month’s kit (plus get future month’s kits before they're even available in the store!) check out this post on Taylor’s blog!
When Taylor sent us these Key Ingredients she issued a little challenge to create anything but a card and to be sure to use one of the cute chipboard buckles in the kit. So I decided it was time to do some scrapbooking and I did my first page of the year! The kit worked in perfectly along with Taylor's new set Branching Out! The designer papers and ribbon in the kit couldn't have been more perfect.
These pictures were taken two years ago, and I love them because they really show my dd's love to "play hard". I prefer to work in 12" x 12" format for scrapbooking, and while the Key Ingredients kit is sized for cards, it worked perfectly with my simple layout. I cut four of the designer papers down to 4"x4" and layered them on the Birchtone dark (included with the kit) and then I cut it down to 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" square. The pictures were taken in a city park, so I cropped them fairly small to cut out the cars and fences. Each photo was layered on white, then popped up on the coordinating cardstock from the kit. On the bottom square, I stamped the tree from Branching Out and added the tire swing from Branching Out Coordinates. Some buttons tied off added some colour to the tree. I added some text using my Dymo Label maker to sum up dd's play that afternoon.
The title was cut using my Sizzix, in Blush Dark Red from the kit, and I tied some of the leaf ribbon to the "g" and suspended a "tire" from it. I love this ribbon, it's so fun...and if I had some monkey stamps...
With the title justified to the right, I needed to fill up the space on the left, and wanted to "lead" the viewer to the title, so I added and eclectic collection of buttons to bring direction and movement along the top.
In the centre of the page, to tie it all together, I added the chipboard buckle tied off with some of the red twill ribbon from the kit and I finished the page with some journalling in my own handwriting around the edge of the photo matte.
I am so happy that I finally scrapped! It came together quite easily using the Key Ingredients kit, since it's all coordinated and there is a variety of embellishments and papers to choose from. Really, if you love kits, you will love the subscription service for the Key Ingredients. How fun will it be to have it arrive in your mailbox every month? Then you can do the challenges right along with us!
I know you want to see more of this kit in action so be sure to stop by and visit my fellow bakers on the Baker's Dozen to see what they've cooked up!
Happy Friday!! I am off today to drop the girls off at grandma's house so I can meet up with Dawn and Christine at the regionals in Edmonton. I am so excited, and I'll be sure to share some pics when I get back. There won't be a weekend sketch set, but drop by Monday for some details on my 300K celebration! Julie Koerber and I are hitting the big 300 right along side each other so we're celebrating together!
