I was really excited when Jen Tapler responded to my Stash Challenge post in January. Jen is a Verve Diva with me, and her work is always amazing and I couldn't wait to do a stash challenge with her. When she suggested chipboard, I knew we were on to something. I suggested chipboard letters, because I think I'll need a few more go rounds with chipboard before I even put a dent in my stash. Plus it's always fun to share different ideas on how to put them to use.
Here's what Jen came up with! How fabulous is that! Jen does clean and simple like nobody's business. I love the chipboard flower and button. What an amazing creation! This is definitely a card you want to reach out and touch! Stop by Jen's blog and find out how she put this baby together, and give yourself a minute to browse all the fabulous stuff she shares!
Jen thank's so much for playing along with my stash challenge!
Now put your sunglasses on for my chipboard alphabet design.
I really wanted to do something other than a word, and here's where I ended up at. I thought of doing a full sentiment or quote using the first letter, but it was taking too long to decide which one. In the end I decided on "Superstar" which is from Verve's "Great Expectations" set and I combined it with "Seeing Stars". I pulled the letter "S" out of a set of Chatterbox chipboard...it was pink, so I let it dictate my colours. I had my daughter in mind, and she loves all the bling and ribbon and all the extras. So I tried to get them all on here!
I tied grosgrain ribbon around the "S" and although the letter is peel and stick, I wanted a bit more dimension, so I popped it up on dimensionals glue dots. "Superstar" was stamped in Pixie Pink with the "s" omitted and punched out with the word window punch. I added a some rhinestone stars to the "S" and the sentiment just to keep with the theme.
In the lower right corner I stamped the flourish star in Versamark, then pierced along the dots. I have had it in mind to do that for a long time, and I think it played a big role in how this card came to be. Some star buttons and punches were added for embellishments, and just for fun, I took the spiral punch and punched all along the top of the card, then tied a slip of grosgrain ribbon through one of the "loops". I love it! And I think it's perfect for the tween age group!
So see...alphabets aren't only for scrapbooking! I challenge you to use some of those chipboard letters you have hidden in your stash! Get them out and onto something! If you play, be sure to link your post up by comment or upload to SCS using the keyword SXSC05.
Tomorrow begins the previews of Flourishes' upcoming release. I am so excited to finally be able to share them with you! I hope you'll drop by again...I think you're going to love them as much as I do!
