I finally got my Weekend Sketch Set finished and photographed. I really had a hard time with this one, and it's because I wanted to put a bigger dent in my "Afternoon Tea" designer paper pack, and of course most of the papers I have left are those with Groovy Guava and Wild Wasabi. Those two "In Colours" from last year just didn't strike my fancy and I just generally find them harder to work with. I chose "Inspired by Nature" for the stamp set, which I love, so overall, I am pleased with the result. Let me know what you think.
I'll start with Taylor's sketch this week. Taylor love's threes I think! And three is such a fabulous combination for designing, it's hard to go wrong. For this card I was wishing I had Groovy Guava ribbon, but I don't so Soft Sky had to do.
I stamped the grass from "Inspired by Nature" in Wild Wasabi, then I used sponge daubers to ink up the cone flower and stamped it three times. The buttons are from my stash and I tied the linen thread around the ribbon first, then threaded the tails through the button and tied it off. Debbie Olsen does this a lot and I just love the look. I added a photo corner to the top of the image and the sentiment is from "So Many Sayings", punched with the word window punch and accented by a slip of Soft Sky ribbon and another button. I think this is my favorite of the bunch this week!

I really liked Amy`s sketch this week and this card came together the fastest of all. The grass was stamped on Naturals White, and I added some tiny butterflies. The sentiment was stamped in Chocolate Chip and a felt flower is tied off on the corner with a button and linen thread. The veritical panel is scalloped with the border punch and a length of Chocolate Chip grosgrain is wrapped around it. The rest of the card was assembled as per Amy`s sketch with three buttons tied off as the lower embellishments.

Lauren's sketch was totally "Lauren"! It was fun to put together. The coneflower was stamped on Whisper White in Chocolate Chip and then cut out with circle Nestability. While the nestie was still in place, I took my stipple brush and stippled Soft Sky ink in the inner portion. It's difficult to see in the photograph, since it's such a soft colour next to the rest, I layered each of the designer paper pieces on Chocolate Chip cardstock and tied the wide Chocolate Chip grosgrain around it. I pulled out "In the Spotlight" and stamped the sentiments "Hello" and "Friend" in Groovy Guava and made them into Build a Brads. I love my build a brads...they are little life savers some times!
Recipe: Stamps: Inspired by Nature, In the Spotlight (SU) Paper: Groovy Guava textured, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Afternoon Tea designer paper Ink: Chocolate Chip, Groovy Guava Accessories: Build a Brad, Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain, dimensionals, circle/scallop circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders)
And to finish off the set, here is my take on Jen's Saturday sketch. I chose Chocolate Chip as my base and ran the Groovy Guava through with the floral Cuttlebug folder. The coneflower was inked up using sponge daublers and stamped on Whisper White. I added some Cinnamon Stickles to the top of the flower which in addition to adding some texture you see in the photo, adds a subtle bronzy sparkle.
The corner was edged with a Martha Stewart border punch and wrapped with Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon and a button tied off. The sentiment is from "Lot'sa Thoughts" one of last years SAB sets, and punched out with the small oval punch. Quite a simple card really.

Well there you have it, my Weekend Sketch Set on a Thursday! And while I'm not fond of Groovy Guava it does look pretty good paired with Soft Sky or Chocolate Chip, so I can't complain. Not to mention I also put a dent in the huge pile of Groovy Guava cardstock I have left over, along with the Afternoon Tea paper pack. So things are looking good! I have the next 4 days off (2 with kids in school) so I am going to try to get as much stamping in as I can between laundry, housecleaning and kids.
Happy Thursday! Thanks so much for dropping by today! I always love it when you do!
