I finally got to use my new "Parisian Summer" designer paper. I succumbed to the need to have it after Jessie started raving about it and showing it off with her amazing style. It is really beautiful, and I'm hopeful we'll see it in the new caty because I think this is much more Spring/Summer than fall winter. I also picked up Pocket Silhouettes...such a sweet set, I hope you like how it all came together. I do, I think this ranks among my favorite sketch sets yet!
Taylor's Cupcake Sketch is first. Love this sketch...it really makes me think of a mirror or portrait hanging on a wall. That's exactly how I think my card turned out. Parisian Summer has an almost Victorian feel to it, so I played that up. I added the sentiment using the word window and adhered it with Bazzill mini brads, and buttons adorn the top corner.
Recipe: Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes (SU) Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Very Vanilla, Pirouette Pink, Parisian Summer designer paper Ink: Bravo Burgundy Accessories: Buttons, word window punch, buttons, pink organdy ribbon, ticket corner punch, dimensionals (SU), Oval dies (Spellbinders), embroidery floss, mini mini brads (Bazzill) Finished card size: A2, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4", vertical topfold
I'm sharing Jen's Sketch for You to Try next, because it matches Taylors! The paper all coordinates, but these two I used the same papers. I didn't even realize it until after the fact because Taylor's was made on Friday and Jen's on Saturday and you know I'm way too old to recall simple fact like that!
I used a base of Bravo Burgundy and stamped "Pretty Petals" background stamp in Versamark and embossed in clear. I love the effect! The scallops all have Burgundy stickles on them and the little silhouette image has stickles on the leaves. I also used "Curvy Verses" for the sentiment, since it fit the size better than those in the silhouettes. You know, all of these cards came together quickly, except for this one. I spent an hour at least trying to decide what to add to the sentiment tag, since all Vanilla looked too bare. I tried ribbon, gems, charms and finally decided a small scrap of a scalloped border that was a throw off from another card would do. I think it's perfect, but how crazy does it get to spend an hour on a 1" section???
Recipe: Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Curvy Verses, Pretty Petals (SU) Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Pirouette Pink, Very Vanilla, Parisian Summer designer paper (SU) Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Versamark Accessories:Scalloped border punch, curly label punch, tag corner punch, dimensionals, Bravo Burgundy grosgrain ribbon, Clear ep (SU), Burgundy Stickles (Ranger)
Finished card size: 5 1/4" x 5 1/4", top fold
Amy's was a classic sketch, and so easy to work with. I created the focal panel by stamping one image in Pirouette Pink near the top, the next image was stamped in So Saffron a little lower down, and the final image was stamped in Bravo Burgundy (stamped off twice!) near to the bottom. A length of dollar store velvet ribbon is adhered to the vertical panel. I added a layered Prima flower and a fancy brad from the dollar store. A spiral clip balances the top with a slip of Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon, and the sentiment was stamped directly on the Pirouette Pink base...it just seemed better balanced as opposed to adding another layer. I love it, and it seems that I'm always short of get well cards.

Lauren's sketch was a variation on the same classic sketch Amy used, so to add some interest I flipped it on it's side. I chose So Saffron as my base the same designer paper sheet I used in Amy's card. The image was coloured with markers and stamped on Very Vanilla. I punched it out with the large oval punch and sponged a bit of So Saffron around the edges to frame it better. It's adhered to the layered mat of Bravo Burgundy, So Saffron and Pirouette Pink. I used the ticket corner punch to add a bit more interest to the piece. The sentiment is framed in a Styled Silver book plate, and the knot in the Pirouette PInk striped grosgrain becomes the "embellishment". Love this one too!

Here's the group shot of all of them.
I had a hard time getting a good shot with the light anddark papers I used. One or the other lost out, and this picture washes out the light colours. I think the individual shots turned out OK, so I'm willing to let this one go without fussing much more.
Happy Sunday to you! I hope you have enjoyed this week's version of my Weekend Sketch set as much as I have. Thanks so much for dropping by. I love it when you do!
