Today Flourishes releases three new sets...and what can I say...I just love them all! Today, I'm sharing a card made with the newly released set "Thinking of You". I tried something new, and it turned out awesome, and that makes me so happy to share it with you.
When I saw Thinking of You, I had so many ideas run through my head, it was hard to settle down and focus on one. My first thought was the Joseph's Coat technique. I love the effect, but it's time consuming and I like it quicker. So I thought, what about a Faux Joseph's Coat? I haven't heard of it before, but I thought it would be cool to give it a try.
I pulled out my Basic Grey, "Euphoria" paper pack and stamped the bouquet image on busy but beautiful floral paper in Versamark then embossed it in clear. I knew I needed a dark colour, but I didn't want black, so I reached for Elegant Eggplant and brayered it over the image until the paper was as dark as it was going to get. I took a tissue and wiped off the excess from the embossed image, and Voila! Faux Joseph's Coat. In the photo you really notice the pattern from the designer paper beneath the Eggplant ink, but I think that's because I use artificial lighting. In real life it's much less prominent.
I took a panel of the same paper and used it across the Elegant Eggplant base, layered on Baja Breeze and Regal Rose. The Regal Rose layer is scalloped and pierced for some added detail. I wrapped a length of May Arts satin ribbon around it. The edges are green and it's the perfect ribbon for this paper! The focal image was layered on Baja Breeze then Regal Rose, and popped up on dimensionals. I added the sentiment last, after much debate. I tried a lot of options, but they all seemed to crowd the card, so in the end, I stamped it directly on the busy designer paper in Versamark Onyx Black, and I think I like the subtlety of my choice.
Flourishes has a special on the new release bundle that will save you 10%, plus their JustRite 25% off sale is still running, as well as their December specials. Check out all the details here!
