You know you're addicted to challenges when you start challenging yourself and friends to do the impossible! I was chatting with my friend Cindy last week about all the designer paper we have (think hoarders!!), and how it starts to look so dated and out of style after a while. In fact, worse than dated, it looks just plain ugly. You know how you ask yourself, "What was I thinking?". Now I have enough paper that I'm sure, stacked floor to ceiling it would rise up to the second floor of my house and my studio is in the basement! I started scrapbooking 11 years ago...or perhaps I should just say I started collecting paper 11 years ago. Well styles change and we change and now most of that hoarded paper falls into the "What was I thinking" category.
So I challenged Cindy to an "Ugly Paper" face off. We were both to look through our stash and find the ugliest paper we own and make something beautiful with it. It was a little intimidating and a lot of fun. Holy...do I have a lot of ugly paper!! Have a look at the paper I decided on:
You might want to click on either image to get a complete sense of my state of mind at the time of purchase...maybe 7-8 years ago LOL! It's from Paper Pizzazz and in my defense it was part of a paper pack (booklet actually). Definitely not a Basic Grey. However, that was the challenge and here's what I came up with!
I knew I had to go psychadelic...and since it put me in mind of my Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd days (anyone else old enough to remember those bands...I know Cindy won't she's just a baby LOL), I chose "Rock Star" by Little Paper Shop. Overall, I think it turned out pretty cute! The flowers are by Prima, the ribbon by Strano and I had to add some Stardust Stickles to the guitar after I coloured it with markers.
Now you have to take a look at Cindy's creation, and then let us know who had the ugliest paper!! Oh and don't freak out about the language....just scroll down and she translates it for us English speaking folk! Nice to be bi-lingual!!
