This is truly the prettiest poinsettia I've ever seen as a stamp. It's from Flourishes' "Poinsettia and Boxwood" set, just released this month. And honestly, it intimidated me for a while because colouring is not my best suit, although it has improved over time. However, when I finally got down to it, it was actually fun to colour! Flourishes' artist, Marcella Hawley, has made it easy for even the novice to colour by including the shading and lines to help you. I was really pleased with the results...enough that I'm sharing it with you!
I wanted to use Flourishes' new line of Glittering Christmas papers and this pine print has a metallic shimmer/sparkle to it so I began by stamping and embossing the poinsettia in copper on watercolour paper, twice. I coloured both images with re-inkers and an aquapainter, and cut the centre section of the flower out of one and popped it on top of the other. The leaf images were stamped and embossed, coloured and cut out and attached to the underside of the flower. The completed poinsettia was then adhered to the pinecone glitter paper. Although I coloured the poinsettia using Riding Hood Red ink, there was no way the Riding Hood Red ribbon "matched". So I pulled out some unknown ribbon from my stash that seemed to match perfectly, and tied a knot in a couple strips and wrapped them around opposing corners. The glitter paper is then popped up on Chocolate Chip which is adhered to the Always Artichoke card base.
The lower portion of the card has a section of Always Artichoke Prints designer paper attached to the Chocolate Chip. The sentiment is from the Holiday Greetings set by Flourishes, and it is stamped on Creamy Caramel card stock in black and mounted in a bookplate. The same ribbon is threaded through the bookplate and adhered to the back of the Chocolate Chip panel.
Some Stardust Stickles in the poinsettia's centre and a little on the top petals finish the card with a little added sparkle, and you know...I just love it! In fact I sat it on my desk this whole week and think I just might have to send it to myself come Christmas LOL! Tell me I'm not alone...don't you have some cards that you just love so much, you can't bear to part with them?
Happy Friday everyone! Tomorrow I'll be posting my 1 year blog-iversary candy, so I hope you can swing by! Have a wonderful day and a fabulous weekend! Thanks so much for dropping in...you know I love it when you do!
