I decided to go wayyyy back in picking my papers for this week's challenge set. Do you remember Cranberry Crisp, Buckaroo Blue and True Thyme? Well I had decided I would work with Little Paper Shop's "Fairy Tale Adventures" stamp set, and the retired designer paper set "Treehouse" seemed to fall right into place with it.
I'll start with Lauren's Saturday sketchthis week. Her design was a simple mass-produce-able sketch that I did have to make a few minor adjustments to so it would work here. I used the dinosaur from Fairy Tale Adventuresand watercoloured him with True Thyme. The chipboard 4 was coloured in True Thyme and embossed with Iridescent Ice. As you can see, I moved the small box up, since there was open space in that portion of the image, and I added a few more "Happy Birthday" sentiments, from the Birthday Surprise set, since it was a more playful card, and I think it fits perfectly!
Next up is Jen's Sketch for You to Try! I picked the unicorn this time...isn't he just adorable! I used jumbo brads for the embellishments on the left side and I tied Cranberry Crisp stitched grosgrain ribbon through them. I thought the right side needed a little something too, so I brought in more Cranberry Crisp ribbon! The final finishing touch was the set of dots in the corners of the card and image panel. I would have pierced it, but true to form, I already had it glued down, prior to deciding on that final and crucial element!
Here's my take on Beate's Weekend Sketch
Challenge. I thought the prince and princess in the Fairy Tale Adventures set look so cute together, I decided this would make a cute engagement or prom card. I added lots of scallops, since it made me think "Castle", and a clip with Cranberry Crisp ribbon.
The image panel was popped up on dimensionals, all the colouring was done with an aquapainter and the dots with the white gel pen.
Finally, here is my version of Taylor's Cupcake Sketch challenge. Taylor asked us not only to do the sketch, but to "tell us what your stamps are saying". Well, I knew immediately what I wanted the stamps to say, but I spent way too long on the computer trying to "fit" it all in. Then I remembered my JustRite monogram, and I was laughing...literally. I think this adorable dinosaur or dragon would soften the blow of a momentous birthday. I did flip the sketch since the dinosaur was facing the other way.
Here's the group shot with all of them. A fine looking set I think!
Happy Sunday everyone! I'm off to finish off yardwork. We had a little snow wisping around us yesterday...nothing but pretty little flakes, but you know it's coming soon, so I can't procrastinate this time! Thanks so much for dropping by...you know I love it when you do!
