Are you a sketch collector too? I have a whole binder of card sketches I've collected from different blogs and Splitcoast Stampers, and I add more everyday. I think back to the days before sketches, and I used two different versions of the same basic "sketch", and I wondered why all my cards looked the same! Both of these cards are from Julee's Mojo Monday sketches. I don't always get cards done in time for her challenge, but I always hang onto the sketches! And she has recently compiled her Mojo Monday sketches in a PDF document...love it, because somehow I missed a couple! So if you are a sketch lover like me, hop over a get it!
This card uses Julee's Mojo 17 sketch, and features the stamp set "Just Celebrate!" from the new Occasions Mini catalogue.
I started with a standard card base of Soft Sky. The next layer features Purely Pomegranate, layered with textured Whisper White embossed with the Snowflake cuttlebug folder. I have Dawn (stampinscotsgirl on SCS) who was my "Elf" this Christmas to thank for the embossed paper. She sent me 2 sheets of about 6 different designs, which is awesome, since I don't have a Cuttlebug. This is the first sheet I've used, because I'm a hoarder. Do you know how to tell if you're a hoarder? If you say "I have ONLY 1 left" then you are a hoarder. If you say "I still have one left" then you're OK...for now! This was difficult for me because now I only have one snowflake embossed sheet left!
OK, back to the card. Julee's sketch called for a belly band and little tabs at the end. I used the Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon and added layered circles for the tabs. I added white eyelets, set with the cropodile to each tab. Then the entire layer is added to the card with dimensionals. The Snowman was stamped in Black Stazon on Whisper White, and watercoloured with my Markers (tutorial coming next Tuesday!). I added some stickles to his hat and smeared some on the "snow". It looks really cute in real life, but you can't really tell in the picture. I used my Nestabilites to cut and emboss the snowman and layered it on a scalloped circle of Soft Sky. Finally, the sentiment was stamped and punched out with the word window punch, placed at the edge of the card and trimmed. A white eyelet was added to secure it. All done! I love snowmen, and now I'm one up on my Christmas Cards!
This card uses Julee's sketch #26, and uses the Verve Visual set "Starlight Starbright". I purchased this set mostly for the cool sentiments, but it does have some small images, and this is what they look like on a card!
The card base is Purely Pomegranate, and the next layer is Soft Sky Prints designer paper. The middle band is another print from the same paper pack, layered on Blue Bayou. The right panel consists of the images stamped in Soft Sky and Purely Pomegranate on Whisper White. Each was punched with the 3/4" square punch, and layered on their alternate colours punched with the 1 1/4" square punch. All four were then mounted on a section of Blue Bayou, and adhered to the card.
The focal panel was stamped by adding three images to the acrylic block and stamping alternatively in Purely Pomegranate and Soft Sky on Whisper White. The panel was layered on Soft Sky, then Blue Bayou then attached to the card with dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped with the oval star stamp (I love this stamp!) in Soft Sky, then the words stamped on top in Purely Pomegranate. It was punched with the large oval punch and layered on a larger oval of Purely Pomegranate (Emaginations oval punch). Cool sentiment don't you think?
Well I am about to embark on a wild weekend! My oldest wants to have her friend sleep over, and that almost always means a late night! I hope you have some cool things planned for your weekend and can make some time for yourself to stamp! Thanks for dropping by...I always love it when you do!
