I love sparkles, glitter, gems, glaze...it's all so wonderful, and Life is better when it sparkles! This card was created for a young girl undergoing some traumatic surgery. You can read about it on Kelli's blog here. I thought of sending a get well card, then decided a fun sparkly card might be fun for her to receive.
The stamps are from Verve's "Serenity" set. It's a bit of a change from most of the "serene" cards I've made with this set. I have been playing with my markers and I thought these little blossoms might look like strawberries, and I guess they sort of do, but when it was done, I thought it just looked like fun.
The card base is Certainly Celery, and the designer paper is the polka dot print from the Prints series. The focal panel is stamped with the leave fronds in Certainly Celery, then I took my markers to them. The pink blossoms have Rose Red dots, and to create them I gently touched the brush tip to the paper. I can't emphasize "gently" enough. Too much pressure and you get a blob not a dot, and too much pressure will ruin your brush tip end of the marker. After I had the dots filled in, I took my Pretty in Pink marker and coloured the blossom in. The yellows are Summer Sun and Barely Banana. The sparkles are Dazzling Diamonds, and again I gently touched my two way glue pen to each dot, doing one frond at a time, since it dries fairly quickly. It really is pretty and sparkly, although difficult to capture on film.
The sentiment came from Verve's "Starlight Starbright" set, which has tons of fun sentiments. I stamped it in Rose Red on Very Vanilla, and punched it out with the small oval punch, then layered it onto a Rose Red punch from the large oval punch. It is adhered to the card with dimensionals.
I hope you like it; and I hope it brightens the day of a young girl. I hope your day is bright and sparkly too! Thanks for dropping by!
