A couple of years ago at my dd's birthday party, I decided to make it really festive and blew up about 50 balloons in so many different colours. It was really neat looking, and since they weren't helium, it was like wading through a pool of balloons. Everything was wonderful until one of her little friends arrived, and she was just petrified of balloons! She wimpered and shrieked until my husband and I picked up all the balloons and put them in the spare room. So much for their festive presence!!
I love the balloons in the "Birthday Whimsy" Sale-a-Bration set, and stamping them in the colours from the Bali Breeze designer papers, made me think of the colourful sea of balloons that year.
This card is 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" square with Rose Red as the base. I added a layer of Pumkin Pie and then I went with the teal coloured designer paper from Bali Breeze.
The upper panel is Rose Red with a print from Bali Breeze in the forefront. The balloons were stamped in Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, and Taken with Teal on Whisper White. I cut each one out, then taped (with regular scotch tape) the gold cord to the backs of them. I tied the "balloon strings" together and then popped the balloons up on dimensionals. "Happy Birthday" is one stamp so to separate them I inked the stamp up in Basic Black, positioned a post it note on the paper, then I eyeballed it such that either the "happy" or "birthday" was stamped on the post it note instead of the paper. Then I punched each word out with the Word Window Punch.
The cake was also stamped three times on Whisper White, once in each colour. The Rose Red cake was cut out and pieced on the Taken with Teal cake, and the "cake plate" was cut from the Pumpkin Pie cake and pieced on too. I added some copper stickled in the candle flames just for fun! The cake section is mounted with dimensionals.
Lastly, I seem to feel there needs to be some edge or corner treatment on every card. I know it's just a phase I'm going through, so I resisted and instead I punched a 1/2" circle of Rose Red, a 1/4" circle of Tempting Turquoise, and added a Pumpkin Pie brad. I put a dimensional on it and mounted it in the bottom corner. I love it!!
OK...gotta run...I'll spell check later!
