You know, when you combine challenges, you really don't have to think much! For this card I combined today's Ways to Use it challenge with the SCS Dirty Dozen sketch challenge, a challenge issued to Fan Club members. If you're not a Fan Club member, I highly recommend it...for a stamper it's well worth the money.
I really wanted to use my new Ginger Blossom paper, and I chose Embrace Life as my main stamp set. The card is 3 1/4" x 6"; I cut a 3 1/4" panel from a 12x12 sheet of textured Groovy Guava, and folded it in half. It fits perfectly in our long notes envelopes! I layered the strip of designer paper on River Rock, and tied a length of River Rock double stitched ribbon around it.
The focal circle started with Confetti Cream. I stamped the blossom sprig in Basic Black all around it, and coloured the flowers with Cameo Coral and Groovy Guava, using a blender pen and a re-inker since there are no markers for the "in-Colours". Since the challenge was embossing powders, I decided to do the Cracked Glass technique, which involves using our Glassy Glaze Enamel, and embossing it about 3-4 times. Then you place it in the freezer for about 15 mins, and when you straighten it out, it will crack. Here is a close up so you can see the detail better, and if you click on it, you can see a bit more detail.
The sentiment is from Think Happy Thoughts, which I think is my all time favorite sentiment set! I just love that they are circles. I added a silk flower from the Pretties kit coloured with my makeshift blender pen Groovy Guava marker, and added a Ruby Red brad in the centre. To finish the card I added 3 more Ruby Red brads along the bottom right.
This was a card that turned out exactly the way I visualized it. I even had to check to see if I had inadvertently cased it! I hope not, (my apologies in advance), although it may be that this set is paired with this paper so often, or that I've seen so many cards now with this sketch. Anyway, I hope my version inspires you to stamp today! Make some time for you!
